At approximately 10 AM this morning Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS was alerted to a residential structure fire on Main Street in Dallas Boro. Upon arrival, heavy fire was noted and units from Back Mountain Regional, Kunkle, Shavertown, Trucksville, Northmoreland and Idetown worked to extinguish the fire

Volunteers with Regional Engine 1, Tanker 1 Rescue 2 and Tanker 2 responded to Main Rd., Sweet Valley, Lake Township on the commercial structure fire box
Unit units operated for approximately two hours and will return to service by Valley command
Great response by all agencies.
Around 3am Volunteers with Engine 1, Tanker 1 and 2 as well as Rescue 2 responded to a residential structure fire in Ross Township. Volunteers operated for approximately two hours before being returned to service by command.

Volunteers continued the tradition of bringing Santa to the Dallas twp Christmas tree lighting ceremony tonight.
We wanted to bring to your attention some exciting updates from the latest township letter regarding the Fire Department. Please take a moment to review page 3, where the Newsletter discusses a tax credit available to residents who volunteer with our agency. We are in need of Firefighters, EMTs, ambulance drivers, truck/building/Grounds maintenance staff, janitorial volunteers. Fundraising volunteers ... If you have any ideas on how you can help, we can greatly use it.

Volunteers with Engine 1 & EMS responded to Country Club apts for a commercial Structure box. Command arrived and held it to 121 as a faulty heating unit was detected. Code enforcement was notified

Good reminder to ensure your CO Alarms are active. Mild exposure to CO can cause symptoms like nausea, dizziness, or headaches. More severe poisoning can lead to brain or heart damage or even death. Symptoms are often described as "flu-like"

Tanker 1 just got back from an early morning brush fire. Please remember to avoid burning outside at all costs. Conditions are ripe for fire to spread quickly.

Volunteers with Regional Engine 1 & Tanker 1 along with mutual aid partners responded to Gildea hall at Misericordia University last night for a report of smoke in the building. 121 Regional Chief had the command -units determined there was a malfunctioning light ballast & the box was placed back in service.

Today, the Dallas Kiwanis held a Halloween Party & Parade for children at Regional Station 1. Prizes were awarded to the best costumes, music was provided by Charlie Hayes, and Brace’s Apple Cider was served. In addition to setup and tear down, volunteers also handled 2 calls for service today; one a Ricketts Glen rescue and an MVA in Lehman Twp.

At around 7am this morning, Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS were dispatched to Old 115 in Lehman Township for a tractor trailer vs car accident. After receiving an update on the severity of the situation, command requested additional resources. Volunteers from Regional Rescue 1&2, Jackson Township Fire, Trucksville Rescue, Regional M30, and Kunkle M33 responded to the incident. Great job to all who responded.
Regional Engine 1 responded to a small mulch fire in the borough, which was ignited by a cigarette butt. This serves as a reminder to refrain from flicking cigarette butts out of car windows.

Erin spent her summer, working in EMS in her home state of New Jersey and we are excited to have her back at BMR staffing Dallas Jr. Mounts Football today at Dallas School District. She is pictured below with sophomore Josh Martinez who recently completed the ambulance driving certification and is studying for is PA EMT.
Congratulations to all who serve. A shout out to Erin. Her family roots in the area go way back to both sets of her great-great grandparents which lived in Plains PA in the 1920’s.💕

Volunteers with Engine 1, Tanker 1&2 handled a car fire eariler today at Misericordia. While onscene here, volunteers with Rescue 1 handled a tree down by the Huntsville dam with assistance from the Jackson Township Road department.

Just before 5pm yesterday, Back Mountain Regional Fire and Shavertown Fire Department were dispatched to 23 Oval Drive in Dallas Township for an automatic fire alarm. Regional Engine arrived first and reported a smoke condition in the home. The box was upgraded to a residential structure bringing units from Kunkle and Trucksville. 251 Engine and Truck assisted with fire extinguishment, search, and ventilation. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
This is a good reminder to ensure all of your smoke detectors are in working order.
Severe Weather in the next hour. Please be cautious of trees, power lines and other dangers from the weather.

...and most of them get laughed at, ridiculed, and put down as "non professionals" despite having to go for the same training and comply with the same rules... AND have to do their own support and funding as well. The U.S. is in for a huge, costly shock as volunteerism dies out from the general public's indifference. Last check, it was about $5000/year for every person in PA to pay for 100% full time paid departments to replace volunteers... So a family of 3 could expect an additional tax of around $15K a year ON TOP OF their current taxes to pay for their emergency services.
Looks like we’re in for some stormy weather later on! Remember to avoid hazards in the road, such as downed trees, which can hide downed powerlines!

According to the UGI website, Dallas Boro is showing the most outages residents should be prepared to go several hours without electricity. If you have any elderly neighbors, please check on them to make sure they are OK.
